About

The Dragon

The dragon is the central symbol of the International Vietnamese Law Enforcement Alliance. Throughout Vietnamese culture, it represents strength, wisdom, honour, prosperity, protection and unity. More than a mythical creature, it symbolises the enduring values that have guided generations and continue to inspire those who serve today.

For IVLEA, the dragon also represents legacy – the traditions, sacrifices, professionalism and integrity passed down by those who came before us. It reminds us that we are custodians of this legacy, with a responsibility to uphold these values and strengthen them for future generations.

Its flowing, unbroken form reflects resilience, adaptability and unity across borders. Just as the dragon moves with purpose and strength, our members work together across jurisdictions, cultures and agencies to support one another, build trusted partnerships and contribute to safer communities.

The dragon’s noble character reflects the highest ideals of law enforcement: courage in the face of adversity, wisdom in decision-making, integrity in service, and compassion for the communities we protect. It represents not only the authority to uphold the law, but also the responsibility to lead with humility, professionalism and respect.

As the emblem of IVLEA, the dragon embodies our commitment to preserving a proud legacy of service while embracing innovation, collaboration and excellence. It serves as a constant reminder that although our members come from different backgrounds and organisations, we are united by one legacy and one duty.

Our Motto: One Legacy, One Duty

The motto One Legacy, One Duty reflects the principles that unite the members of the International Vietnamese Law Enforcement Alliance.

Legacy represents the values, traditions, experiences, and sacrifices that have shaped both our communities and the law enforcement profession. It honours those who came before us – the officers, families, mentors, and community leaders whose service, integrity, and dedication established the foundations upon which we stand today.

For our members, legacy is not limited by nationality, agency, rank, or background. It is the shared commitment to honourable service, mutual support, professional excellence, and respect for those who have paved the way before us. It is a legacy that we inherit, uphold, and strengthen through our own actions.

Duty represents our collective responsibility to serve with integrity, courage, professionalism, and compassion. It reflects our commitment to protecting our communities, supporting one another, and maintaining the highest standards of conduct both within and beyond our profession.

Together, these principles express a simple but enduring truth: while our backgrounds and experiences may differ, we are united by a shared legacy and a common duty.

As members of IVLEA, we honour the legacy entrusted to us and accept the responsibility to carry it forward for future generations.

One Legacy. One Duty.
